Long time readers know that thrifting and looking for deals at consignment & second-hand stores is kind of my jam. I’ll spend hours in these stores as there’s nearly always some hidden gem that others have somehow overlooked. Not only does thrift shopping save you a few bucks, it’s also an excellent way to expand your wardrobe AND help save the planet. But when the pandemic kept me from one of my favorite activities … I turned to the net.
So although I’m about to share a few recent finds that I scored from a recent thrifting experience in Vegas … That’s right. My fully vaccinated self finally ventured outside of my comfy 5 mile zone … today I also want to share some really great online thrifting resources so that you TOO can enjoy the hunt without ever having the get off your sofa. But first ~ the scores:
Thrifted Salvatore Ferragamo shoes + unknown brand belt paired with current Zara cropped jacket.
Thrifted Mother Denim pants + Hale Box sandals + moonstone squash blossom necklace paired with current Dylan Lex shirt.
Thrifted earrings + vintage Lecroix scarf + Dolce and Gabbana pants paired with current Vince Camuto gold sandals.
Now ~ had I not disclosed that many of the items I’m wearing are actually second-hand, no one would ever have been the wiser. Also wise are to shop for these deals online. I’ve mentioned my online love from sites like the RealReal and Tradesy here MANY times but I also want to share that there are also some really great thrifting apps, like Poshmark and Depop, and two new ones that I just discovered that are AWESOME!
The first is GEM. GEM brings ALL of your online searches for vintage and second-hand items to their platform and then directs you to the site, store, etc. where you can purchase that item, THIS IS A GAME CHANGER and eliminates searching on hundreds of sites. It’s basically the *Google* of thrifted shopping. And the other is OBJECT LIMITED, which is quickly becoming a premier market for online vintage and is kind of like shopping your cool Aunt’s closet. What I lovvvvveeee about it is that many of the items are video listed so you get a real since of how something looks on a real person as opposed to a hanger. I think both of these apps are totally download worthy.
And lastly before I close this post, I MUST share that the Laundress has THE BEST cleaning products to properly wash (and remove stains & odors from) your newly scored deals. I’m a huge fan of their stain solution, their wash & stain bar, (which removes those next to impossible oil-based stains … I’m talking to YOU, lipstick. *Watch their stain removing tips HERE) their wool & cashmere spray and their classic signature detergent. Happy Thrifting, Friends!
Ooh, thank you so much for the fashion intel, Jamie! I love a thrift treasure hunt and will definitely check out these sites and the Laundress products. Squee, let’s go shopping! 💖👑
Yessss- let’s go shopping! Weeeeee!
I’m obsessed with that GEM app! Such an easy way to shop secondhand.
I love that you mix thrifted items with new and high with low. You look amazing in all these looks, girlfriend!
That GEM app is a real gem!
