I’m taking an early flight out today as I’m meeting up with one of my oldest and dearest GFs in Atlanta to travel to our favorite city. But before I tell you where we’re going, did you know that 100.5 million people travel at least 50 miles from their home during the year-end holiday season? That’s a lot of peeps on the plane, train and in automobiles!
Now, the subject matter on today’s post may seem a bit unusual for me to discuss but my girlfriend has got a little bit of a situation going on and as I share her nervousness, and perhaps YOUR nervousness, I just want you to know that things are about to get REAL OVER HERE ON THE BLOG and to share that help is available.
You see, my friend (Although she has given be permission to share her story, I am changing her name to Stacy) Stacy, is that ONE in THREE female who experiences bladder leakage of some sort and not being close to her home causes her to freak out a bit.
The last time Stacy and I flew together, I had the misfortune of sitting in the middle seat in-between Stacy and a guy trying to sleep in the aisle seat. Stacy spent the lion’s share of the flight crawling over he and I to get to the bathroom.
I felt so bad for my sweet friend and I asked her what was going on. She said she was embarrassed to tell me but then finally shared that she occasionally gets bladder leakage, and I’m so glad that she shared this with me … mainly because I love and care about her, but also because she and I would soon be having a return flight with the same seating arrangements a few days later. #IJustNeededToBePrepared
So when Always Discreet recently reached out to me to see if I might be able to address the stigma associated with bladder leakage, I initially was hesitant to discuss, as I’m normally talking about things like fashion, beauty, food but then I thought about Stacy and you know what? Having these type of discussions should really be NO BIG DEAL! I mean, pretty much every commercial that airs during the news is targeted for people who ... ahem, are of a “certain age” … and bladder leakage is one of them. Frankly, quite a few women (of ALL ages, by the way, and MEN TOO!!!) experience bladder leakage so why aren’t we talking about this more often and not just during the news??? … End of rant.
Alright ~ so back to today’s trip. I’m meeting Stacy in Atlanta … we’re flying to NYC together … it’s going to be FAB. Stacy deserves a life without compromise so I’ve packed Always Discreet Boutique Incontinence Undies for her so she can have some peace of mind and so we can shop.

*** Thank you to Always Discreet for sponsoring this post and bringing awareness to the possibilities of worry-free bladder leakage. If you, or someone you know, would benefit from trying the Always Discreet line, shop it at Walgreens here.
Jaimie Ive noticed that you and some of my other favorite bloggers have taken on this critical issue and thank you for reminding us that this applies to both genders.
And to younger people, too! Thanks, Beth — and YES, there are other bloggers (of all ages) talking about this as well. (also thanks for including me in your group of favorite bloggers! xoxo!)
There should not be suc a stigma on this issue. It’s great to see that there are more options in the past few years. Safe travels! Girlfriend time is the best.
I agree.
Love the sweater, can you give dets on it?
it’s an oldie from SheIn, Connie. I just searched their site to see if it might still be available and struck out.
So right that you bring this up. I also have a friend who suffers from this. Luckily I am not afflicted with this problem yet but open discussion will help many ladies deal with it. Men simply don’t talk about those things!!
I’m not afflicted either, Liana … (Ooooh -Kaaaayyyyy, maybe that ONE time when my hubby really made me giggle …) but I know many young Mothers can be, too.
Wow! For some reason, I never associated this problem with men.
Always was always my go-to product back in my younger days.
Hopefully I never need THIS product, but hey, you never know…

‘Ya never know!
Good for you Jamie to address this very common condition and offer a solution…knowledge is always key.Now go enjoy NYC with your good friend, I was born and raised there and it’s such an exciting city to explore and indulge in…why now I’m hearing Billy Joel singing “New York State of Mind”and craving coffee light and bagel with a smear…have fun!!
I’ll have a Smear in your honor, Patricia!
These products come in handy too for the “urgency syndrome” when traveling ….when that bathroom is just a little too far away….and that dang zipper takes FOR-evah!!! — Cute, cute, cute outfit! Crushing on the red booties! – Enjoy your girlfriend trip Jamie!
Totally made me giggle, Betty! I KNOW that zipper challenge.
Finally told my doctor about my bladder leakage. I have been using Always Discreet pads and that are great. Little did I know I can also take a pill once a day which has stopped the urgency by 70-80%. Plus, I was told a tampon would help too. Who knew? Just want to let women know that there are options other the surgery. I learned that childbirth and menopause are the main culprits. Thank you for addressing this.
That’s quite interesting, Marcia, and yeah ~ who knew??? Thanks for passing this info along!
I have never commented, though I enjoy your blog–thanks!– but I make it a point to comment on bladder leakage posts. A simple painless (just warm) laser procedure can vastly improve/completely solve this problem. The brand name is ThermiVa. Please investigate. I actually didn’t have a problem, but elected to have the procedure proactively after 3 kids, just so I wouldn’t have a problem. It also tightens things up for, uh, intimate relations. Please do check it out. You don’t have to live with the problem. You can fix it.
Hi Christine, thanks for taking the time to comment. I’ll pass this info along to my girlfriend.
I appreciate the kind words about the blog. Thank you and HNY!!
