I think women from the United Kingdom have pretty much got it goin’ on. Perfect examples would be Kate Moss, Stella McCartney, Alexa Chung and…and, of course, Victoria Beckham. I’ve also seen many a natty fellow strolling the streets of Britain. Style just seems to come naturally to them…except for maybe those Barristers in those silly little wigs.
Most of the UK is just chuck full of really great stores. If you don’t have a future trip across the pond planned, you can have just as much success online – BUT you have to keep a few things in mind:
- Firstly, sizing is totally different. Most sites offer you guidance on this, but I find this chart helpful.
- Next, be careful of the price. Are we talkin’ dollars or euros? If euros, make sure you understand the current conversion rate.
- Shipping costs – ummm, yeah, if shipping and items costs are the same – don’t do it. (Unless it’s vintage, one-of-a-kind, or your last name is Trump.)
- Shipping time – you don’t want your item to arrive just in time for next season.
Ok- so all this being said… let’s shop!
Can’t go wrong with Dorthy Perkins. My latest purchase is this grey shoulder embellished sweat. DP ships super fast, almost always has a discount code and the sizing is accurate. This shirt is almost a good as a big ‘ole bowl of yorkshire pudding.
Pretty much anything from River Island. Rihanna has a line there that always seems to sell out. BLIMEY!
Just another excuse to revisit this pic. Maybe she and I could pop into a pub sometime and share some bangers and mash? Fish ‘n chips?
Lipsy London has great holiday outfits right now so you won’t have to get your knickers in a twist if you feel like you’re running out of time purchasing this years holiday dress. Relax – and check out their site.
Please go buy this skirt from ASOS. Just a bit of a warning…their shipping is a tad slower than other sites – but this skirt is worth it! I have purchased plenty from ASOS. Always pleased.
Glamorous has seriously great prices…like, seriously. Would I lie to you, Lassie?
All of these stores I have personally purchased from. If you fancy more options, grab yourself a spot of tea with a few scones and marmalade because here are 50 others for you to peruse.
Are you gobsmacked yet?
You would never lie to lassie…
They make dog fashions for Lassie, too? LOL
Ha!
Barristers’ wigs are cool.
And if you’re coming to the UK, knowing the conversion rate from dollars to euros might be quite interesting, but you’re going to have an easier time of it if you know the conversion from those funny green pieces of paper to pounds Sterling.
All that aside, the Brits may have had their Empire swiped out from under them by their upstart former colony, but they still do style better than most.
You’re right about the Brits doing the “latest, out-there” style — AND, they are also MASTERS of the CLASSIC, never-go-out-of style!
By the way, LOVE the shoes (above) that flash by so fast it’s hard to get a really good look at them. Thanks for sharing!
