This is Murphy ~ my little fur baby. He has been in my life longer than my husband has.
Murph is a senior dog with lots of senior issues. He relies on me for everything, and believe me, he gets whatever he needs: special dietary food, multiple medicines that I have to sneakily hide in balls of cheese or clumps of peanut butter, oodles of vet visits, filtered water, long walks, car rides, lots of ear and tummy rubs, kisses and snuggles.
I happily do these things for him because he brings me such joy!
I also allow Murph to sleep with me ~ on my pillow, my head, across my neck … we have even been known to spoon.
(Yep, he and I go waaaaaaay back.)
The one thing Murph doesn’t get from me is what I’d like to give him the most ~ cute doggie clothing and accessories. This was always my big plan for him and he wants nothing of it. He’ll do everything but kick me in the shins if I suggest to him that we put on his long sleeved polo shirt…even if it’s just to keep him warm.
I wish he would have more of an open mind. Oh ~ the outfits he could have:
This could be his I’m bringin’ home the bacon outfit.
When he’s trying to solve the mystery of what happened to his icky squeaky toy that somehow disappeared, he could wear this Sherlock Holmes outfit.
Athletic and Sporty outfits to chase after the bunnies in the yard from Urban Pup
“I’m a cowboy lookin’ for a cowgirl” in this stylish Charlie Overalls
A great addition to any outfit. We have Uggs, they have Pugs!
I mean, COME ON…Murph! Designer tees…You’re breakin’ my heart!
“Dog gone, I’m handsome” in a bespoke crochet hat
You’ve got to always be dressed appropriately…even when laying around the house. Murph could be the Hugh Hefner of dogs, if I could just get him in this outfit.
I know I’m not alone in wishing my dog was a Couture Canine ~ lots of people have this desire. Just check out Dog Milk and the Couture Dogs of New York coffee table book to see what I’m talking about. Have you ever wanted a portrait painting of your well dressed furry friend? If so, you might give this or this some consideration.
All I know is that Murph took my “I’ve got the best dressed dog is town” dream away. He is, though, pretty darn cute just the way he is.
Dang ……. They dress better then I do ……. I need a dog mom !!!
Murphy chose a great human to live with. He’s a lucky dog.
My Jessie is an Aussie Shepherd/Chow cross. She would pack her bags immediately at the mere suggestion of clothing. But if she did wear clothes, I’m fairly certain they would be Doc Martins and flannel shirts.
Thanks for another great post.
Dang! I should have looked for doggie Doc Martins! Thanks for the great comment.
Well, I don’t know–the whole thing can backfire so fast. Bosie quickly became so attached to his sporting blue turtleneck sweater he refused to let me take it off. He KNEW he looked smashing in it!
he was dashing!
I had it all wrong! I plan now to tailor-down my tuxedo, dress my lil’ bowzer up with my cobbler-downed shiny black shoes, bowler-down my tophat, then take him “Steppin’ Out” to a Tony Bennett concert in Vegas. WOW!! Then, he and I can listen to “Dancin in the Dark”, “Shine on your Shoes”, “Shall we Dance”, “Top hat, White Tie and Tails”, and a ton of other oldies!!
Adorable! My Rudy is very fond of his Ruffwear fleece when it gets colder than usual during the winter. I wouldn’t say he’s a fashion plate… more of a sporty pragmatic 🙂
And who doesn’t love a Ruffwear fleece?!
Rasta can’t wear clothes… if I put something on her, she becomes totally paralyzed and can not move! If she would who knows what cute dresses and shoes – she might have been on of these dogs.
And she is a CU-TIE!
I want to send you a picture of my 80 lb. Chesapeake Bay Retriever dressed like a princess for Halloween 🙂
Your little guy is too cute!!!
Please send it! would love to see.
Now this is a post I can really relate to! My four (yes, four) dogs run the gamut from “heck, no, you’re not putting that on me” to “whatever, Mom!” One of my Schnauzers is the type that freezes and will not move if you put clothing on her. My goofy yellow Lab, Daisy, is just the opposite: she wore an Animal Humane tee shirt the whole time at Doggie Dash & Dawdle.
I love dog clothes! Thanks for showing me some of the better “couture”.
Well, my dog goes around naked all the time, other than a simple black leather collar, except when we’re on long road trips, when he dons a fetching harness and gets belted to the car seat.
Always turning heads, he is.
Jamie
Frenchy, Cricket and Poppy do not have the option of wearing clothes and shoes. Anybody in this household gets new clothes and shoes, you better believe it’s going to be me. Love your blog and miss you.
So love your dogs names! Thanx for the comment!
