What I Did And Wore In LA

Last week I took a quick trip over to the Tucson Gem Show followed by a brief stop in LA. The Tucson Gem and Mineral Show is an annual event that takes place in Tucson, Arizona and is one of the largest mineral shows in the world. If you’ve never been (admittance requires a wholesale license) it can be quite overwhelming and, frankly, SUPER tiring.  It didn’t help that a direct flight to Tucson was unattainable and that my first flight took off at 5:00 am.  Sigh. 

Ever the comfy one when flying, here’s what I wore on the plane along with a few similar looks to what I wore. 

Now ~ I AM, in fact, a California Girl being born in Anaheim and living there and Santa Barbara until I was about 8.  Having a military father I lived on both the West and East coasts and many places in-between.  I’ve visited California many times over the years but this trip was extra fun as I got to hang out with one of my dearest friends. 

Palm trees literally SCREAM California and this first look seemed appropriate … never mind that I was standing in the middle of a busy street during morning rush hour traffic.  I mean, anything for the Gram!  #eyeroll

When you’re staying in Beverly Hills, you do feel a tad pressured to dress as fab as you can, so I wore this little Eva Franco sequined/fringy number to dinner at the historic Sunset Tower bar – although it is technically located in West Hollywood. *Click on the arrow to watch it in action.

The Sunset Tower Bar is definitely a See and be Seen kind of place, which actually makes me giggle because it’s so ridiculously dark inside the dining room you can barely see the people sitting next to you.  None the less, it’s a memorable place to dine and the night I was there  Spotify was hosting a private party and Oprah was booked to host a private party the following night.

I spent my second day strolling and shopping Beverly Hills and enjoyed the yummiest lunch at Nate ‘n Al’s deli. (If you know … you know.)  This deli also has quite a history and I gotta say I was kinda bummed that I did not run into Rob Reiner there.  

One thing I HAD to do in California was try the #HailieBieberSmoothie from Erewon.  It’s delish, has been raved about for a few years, is all over TikTok and is CRAZY expensive!   The ingredients, however, are supposed to be EXTRA FABULOUS for your skin.  Since returning from my trip, I found what appears to be the exact recipe online, obtained the more usual ingredients like sea moss gel and drinkable hyaluronic acid from Whole Foods and have made this smoothie for breakfast for the past 3 mornings.  I’m obsessed.
