Ok ~ so if you watched this recent video of mine … feel free to watch it over and over again

Then you learned that Santa Fe is known to be the first city in the world where tequila was exported to from Mexico.  So when my friends Llano Wines (the largest, best-selling premium winery in Texas) asked me to share a frozen drink recipe that might embody the spirit of my state, then you KNOW that tequila had to be part of the mix.

Now firstly, you should know that I really just prefer to drink wine.  I’m not much of a mixed drink kind of gal.

BUT I do actually have a New Mexican margarita recipe that I imbibe in from time to time and my recipe just so happens to include Moscato wine … Llano Estacado Red Moscato wine, to be exact.   (and although I’m making a Muscato Margarita, it didn’t stop me from popping open the Llano Estacado Signature Rosé. It’s kind of perf on a warm summer afternoon.)

Ok – so my recipe will serve 3 and starts with a great Muscato wine.

You’ll then need a lime for lime slices …

and for 2 oz. of freshly squeezed juice.

Next you’ll need 1 & 1/2 cups of frozen raspberries or a berry mix.  I like this one from Trader Joe’s because I like the tartness of the cherries mixed with the sweetness of the Muscato.  Also, the Llano Estacado Red Muscato has notes of apples and strawberries, so I find that the Trader Joe’s berry mix plays well with it.

Then all you do is mix the frozen berries with the lime juice in a blender and add 2 oz. of  tequila and 1 oz. of triple sec.

Pour 1/3 of the mixture into a FAB nambé glass ….

and add 1/2 – 3/4 cup of Llana Estacado Red Muscato

and BOOM ~  you’ve suddenly got a party in your hand!

To make the drink even more New Mexican, some people like to line the edge of their glass with salt and red chile pepper and, if you’re  brave, add a squeeze of jalapeño juice.
