I just returned from an amazing 2 week vacay (hence the minimal blog posts) with my husband. Our travels took us to Italy, Greece and Turkey and although we had been to Italy and Greece before, Turkey was a new adventure for us. And, adventure it was because Turkey is FABULOUS! The food, the people, the exotic history and, of course, the shopping. Umm…hello?…Grand Bazaar.
Anyone who has ever traveled to Turkey before will advise you that you must allow time in your trip to learn about Turkish rugs and that you absolutely must also purchase one. It’s just kind of “understood”.
Our home is full of wooden floors that are nicely covered with an assortment of rugs ~ all shapes and sizes. So when I broached the subject to my husband about the need to purchase a Turkish rug while on our trip, he looked at me as if I was a total nut ball and, frankly, like the mere mention was a bit of a cliché.
Now wait ~ I thought this is what we were supposed to DO? We can’t return home from Turkey without some kind of unbelievable rug, right? Such a dilemma we were facing…UNTIL I came up with the perfect solution:
TURKISH RUG SHOES
That’s right. If I can’t walk my bare feet across them, I will wrap my bare feet in them.
And not only are they great to look at, these shoes make the trip far more memorable for me. PLUS, I feel kinda sassy in them.
If you don’t have a future trip planned to Turkey and you want to feel sassy too ~ you can get your own Turkish rug shoes (also known as Kilim shoes) here. Or if you prefer something a bit closer to home, then you might enjoy these, these or these.
So even though it feels really good to be home, it feels even better not to have had the rug pulled out from underneath me. LOVING the shoe ♥ !
Amazing flats indeed! And great hat too! 😉

Seems like you have your feet firmly on the ground ….. love the Grinch !
Perfect. I have a Persian rug mousepad. These things all weigh lots less than actual rugs, and are a lot cheaper!
I, too, have always wanted a “turkey” carpet–but I think you’ve found the Perfect Solution!!!
Glad you’re home, wearing cool shoes.
Flats and Hats!! Love ’em both!
The Grinch looks suspiciously like JRL!
