Hi there, Friends! I thought I’d share a quick update on our new puppy, Lager, before I get to the *meat* of this post — the Worth New York going out of business sale.
Lager has now been with us for 1 full month, is officially 13 weeks old and weighs 8.1 lbs. He’s adorably adorable, very loving and chews on EVERYthing, like this red slipper and old bedsheet.
Valentino, our other dog, has chosen to ignore Lager EVEN THOUGH we remind Valentino that Lager was actually brought into our family for him. OK, and perhaps for us ,too. At any rate, we hope that the two shall finally meet and become lifelong buddies. I have caught Valentino watching Lager out of the corner of his eye.
Soooo ~ did any of you happen to shop the Worth New York going out of business sale? I am/was quite sad to hear that this luxury direct sale Women’s Fashion Brand closed its site after 29 fabulous years. I’ve been immensely pleased with everything I’ve ever purchased from them over the years, however their price point had always been a bit hard to swallow. That being said, their quality was always been superb.
Their sale was held online, and if you had been a client and/or in their data base, you were alerted DAILY that they were going to be selling all of their current stock, and previous seasons, and so their sales went a little something like this ~ Every dress is now $80 … then All dresses are 2 for $80 …. then all dresses are now $25 each. …. You get the point. And in the final, FINAL days the sales became Everything is $30 each, then Everything is $20 each, then EVERYTHING is $15 each ~ and THESE were the days that I purchased. And BOY ~ did I purchase!
I got this really great floral dress for $20 (I think it retailed for $560) …
… and then this classic blouse for $15 and FAB skirt for $20 (which I believe the blouse retailed for $290 and the skirt retailed for $720 – I also purchased 16 other items) and the ONLY reason why I’m sharing this with you is because IF you missed this sale, I would start to scower Poshmark, The Real Real and eBay because that is probably where many of these items will end up.
And THEN you might considering trying what I did when I spied a Worth leather jacket on Poshmark that I had just seen on the going out of business sale but wasn’t available in my size. I reached out to the Seller and informed them that I saw the same jacket on Worth and that they were selling it for $40 and would they (the Poshmark seller) accept for my same offer of $40 (because I was in the know!) … and they did!
BOOM ~ I’ve got skillz.
Lovely, Jamie! I’ve been amazed at the sales going on and so sad for the stores having to close. Thanks for keeping us informed and all the great fashion tips and inspiration! 🙂
Worth closing did make me quite sad as, even though I found their items to be pretty expensive, once they arrived at my home I was always so pleased with their quality and great design. Whenever I do a closet purge, I ALWAYS keep my Worth as they will/have lasted for years. #TriedAndTrue
Hey Jamie, Didn’t know they were going OOB (out of business). I remember them being around when I was attending F.I.T. in NYC. Glad you stocked up on some great items. As for Lager and Valentino’s temporary stand-off, I’d suggest giving it T=I=M=E; eventually Valentino will come around. Lager has a kissable doggie face and is quite adorable. Just as people adjust to new surroundings/situations, Valentino is doing the same. He’s probably not sure just yet of how to approach his new friend and is still a bit apprehensive. But don’t fear, they will become BDFF (best doggie friends forever). Even though they grieve in their own way, animals are more resilient than we think. It will all be fine.
I’m sure you are right, Alicia. This has happened with all of my dogs but not for this length of time. XO!
I can’t wait to see all the other Worth items you scored!
I did get some fun stuff!
I took full advantage of the Worth sale, too. I think I bought 15 items! I’m sad to see them go but looking forward to Etcetera line!
Whoa! And here I thought I was the only one who might have gone a tad overboard. Hahaha! XO
