Since I’m now on day 11 of staying home with the hubby as we continue with our #SocialDistancing, I’ve had a LOT of time on my hands to clean and reorganize our home. So I wanted to write this quick post just to share my new admiration/love for anything from Steele Canvas Basket.
I was sent this canvas square carry truck (mine has a lid, which apparently no longer appears to be available.) to try and use in my home, which I had initially just thought would be a great-looking item to house my dirty laundry, but I’ve NOW discovered many new uses for it.
Founded in 1921, on Hamilton St. in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Steele Canvas Basket started manufacturing specialty canvas products for the New England coal and textile trades. Their craftsmanship quickly earned the reputation of providing dependable and durable wares, and soon they started making steaming baskets for the woolen industry, narrow canvas picking baskets to hold tobacco leaves and small, sturdy doffing bins on white birch runners to catch wooden shoe lasts.
TODAY they’re making mini bar bags for the Carlyle Hotel, enormous custom baskets for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons and canvas “trucks” for both industrial and at-home use – like mine!
My truck can not only be used for laundry, it’s perfect for housing toys, small pillows, throw blankets ... (you could even haul bricks in it. You know, should you ever need to haul bricks) … AND all of Valentino’s possessions because this little doggie does not go without. Check out how they’re a Steele of a Deal and all their fun canvas stuff HERE. BE SAFE everyone!
These are great, Jamie! I’m looking for a nice ‘truck’ to house my writing supplies (laptop, dictionary, possible cat 🙂 ) when I’m done for the day or want to move to another room during this #QuarantineLife. Great idea GF! 🙂 #BeWell
They’re great for hiding stuff, Veronica! Be safe, my friend!
I really like the look of these!
Thanks for sharing. 😃
I do as well!
My Steele is 10 years old! I still love it! Mine is 3 bushel. And, has a rack under the divided canvas upper trimmed with leather. The look just gets better with age
They’re new to me so this is really good to know – thanks for sharing!
