Yeah. This trend is totally not going anywhere.

As a matter of fact, it’s only getting bigger but I still occasionally l find myself questioning whether or not I should be wearing something that is ripped or torn.
I mean, my mother would never have allowed me to wear ripped or torn anything.
But seeing as just about every Brand/Retailer happens to be using the words destructed, distressed, raw cut and even vintage to help soften the mental blow …
… I’ve gotten over it!
Your momma ain’t here! Awesome jacket.
struggled with this too, but now have 2 pair of ripped BF jeans 🙂 great look!
Truthfully, your momma would not have cared. Looks Great!!
I totally know what you mean, Jamie!
It’s kinda like, when in Rome….

Haha! You wear it well. But I know what you mean about questioning the trend.
Thanks, Kim. We think alike.
Gorgeous bag! I love the look and have some torn jeans that were just put on the rag bag as they have been slowly disintegrating. I will reclaim them and wear them with confidence. Thanks for the inspiration. This saves me from buying a new pair.
Glad I could help, Lisa!
Why I don’t like ripped and torn clothing: There are people who have no choice but to wear ripped and torn clothing. To them it’s not a fashion statement. To make it a fashion statement, I believe, is mocking them. It puts me in the mind of rich ladies who go “slumming.” I feel the same way about using camouflage clothing and driving humvees, unless you are willing to be shot at in the service of your country. It’s like playing “war” without taking the risks.
I understand that not everyone feels the same as I do. This is just the belief that works for me.
Hi Carolyn, — I completely respect your opinion on this. Thank you for expressing your feelings here but please be assured I would never mock anyone. (I’ve actually been involved with, chaired many fund-raisers for and supported those people – and animals- who need assistance) ~ I’m just wearing a trend that just about every brand is creating their own version of. You may want to assess those brands that do not support your beliefs.
Jamie,
I respect your choice, but, I agree with Caroly about the “ripped” trend. To me it just seems to be an “outfit distraction” in my opinion, I have seen some lovely and cute outfits that I felt were overshadowed by this look, I can’t do it, it’s just not me.
I enjoy your outfits and blog.
Hi Shawna, thanks for reaching out and I completely understand. I do know that not every one of my outfits is going to be a home run with everyone. Thanks for the nice comment about my outfits/blog. 🙂
Whatever the trend, Jamie, you wear it well. I happen to love the distressed jeans look. Reminds me of my college days many moons ago. 🙂
Love you style and your blog.
Thanks so much, Judy! I like the distressed look, too.
