Every picture and blog post on this blog marks a moment of time in my life. Each post also reflects how my photography, writing style and looks have evolved since I first started this blog almost 2 years ago.
This whole blog thing has been such an amazing and empowering experience for me and it has taken me to places that I never imagined I could go.
So as 2014 comes to an end, I thought it would be fun to grab a random blog post picture from each month for me to share a back-story about. Because there’s always a back-story.
J: For most of my first year, I was my own photographer. I would set my camera on a timer and run over to my posing spot and SMILE. Can you even imagine how ridiculous this was? Almost as ridiculous as leaning up against a metal silo. Or standing in weeds.
F: I tweeted this picture to the website that sells this sweatshirt. They picked up on it and posted it on their various social media sites. I had done this many times before to other sites, but these guys were the first to do something with it. I confess that I then got kinda nervous. NOW people other than family and friends were scoping out my blog. Are they thinking “What’s up with the chick standing in the weeds?”
M: It was this outfit where people really started purchasing through the blog the items that I was wearing. The Free People shirt was quite popular, as well as the McQueen bracelet. Note: no makeup was purchased through the blog as I basically wasn’t wearing any. Yikes.
April * May * June
A: Here’s where I scored the major deal on the Isabel Marant look-a-like sandals that people would stop me in the street to inquire about. They are still available, by the way, just click here. There’s also a white and a tan version. Be prepared to be stopped.
M: Sporting the skirt that I was gifted because I won a Who Wore It Best Fashion Bloggers Challenge. Just about every picture that was taken that day also included a few crushed beer cans in the shot that I hadn’t initially noticed. This is when I started to pay attention to my surroundings. No beer cans, no bad words in graffiti, etc. There was also this guy lurking around annoyed that I was there who I now assume was probably the consumer of the brew-skis. Sorry, Dude, but it WAS 9:30 in the morning.
J: I have now officially hired my very expensive loving husband as my photographer. The day after this blog post released, I received an email from the online fashion magazine, StyleBlazer, that they were creating a story on the 50 most stylish bloggers across the nation ~ one from each state. A few months later, I learned that I was selected as the most stylish from New Mexico. And we did wonder if my head would ever fit inside of my car again.
July * August * September
J: Soooo many emails about my necklaces AND about the booties that my girlfriend gave to me because they hurt her feet. Snicker. I know she wants them back. Wait ~ she still has the same feet, right?
A: Third outfit shot of that day and I was changing my clothes and restyling my hair in the car. All of this was taking a lot of time and my irritable and hairspray covered loving husband was starting to fizzle out. And when he fizzles out ~ he fizzles OUT.
S: Late afternoon photo in front of a store in ABQ Uptown after a great glass of wine at Marcello’s Chophouse. Now this is how I fizzle out.
October * November * December
O: Moments after this picture was taken, and after my professional tire changer loving husband had driven away, I had a flat tire. I also stepped in gum. Arrgghh to photos taken outside of our home.
N: This picture had an almost heavenly ray of light beaming through it. Was this a sign of good things to come?
D: Taken just a couple of weeks ago at my fun girlfriend holiday bling luncheon. I did, in fact, out bling them all. I WON! They curse my name.
So, as we rock in the New Year, I want to thank you all (especially my amazing husband) for your love, friendship and support. I also want to wish you your most fabulous year ever.
Follow your dreams in 2015!
