Random, but true story … although it pretty much applies to today’s outfit.
I just flew home from NYFW (which I’ll be recapping sometime later next week) … and because while one is at FW you literally run from one meeting/show to another, I had completely spaced on logging into Southwest Airlines 24 hours in advance to secure my boarding section for my next days return home flight.
When I finally did login I, of course, was assigned the dreaded “C” boarding section (C47 was my standing spot, to be exact) which meant that all of the good seats would undoubtedly be occupied. As one might suspect, the only seats left on the plane were the middle seats and I plopped myself down in the first vacant seat that I saw, in-between 2 apparently good friends who were engaged in some very lively conversation.
What I did not realize was that the subject matter they were bantering back in forth about was politics and they each sat on completely different sides of the fence ~ both steadfast on their respective positions.
At one point, one of them turned to me and asked “So …what’s YOUR position on this?”
… for which I politely replied “You know … in situations such as this, I think its best to remain neutral.”
Love the pop of royal blue in your earrings with your neutrals, great fresh color!
OMG. that is literally the stuff of my nightmares. I can’t stand overhearing a political discussion, let alone be actually in the middle of one. The only solution: noise cancelling headphones. Thank you Bose.
I just giggled over “thank you, Bose” !!
You crack me up — and I love your humor as well as your “neutrality” in politics (and your great outfit). You said exactly the right thing. These days, in these incredibly divisive times, we gotta work extra hard to find common ground. In all my 60 years, I’ve never seen so many people willing to risk losing relationships over politics. (One woman is ready to leave her husband, I kid you not.) I can’t figure it out for the life of me… Nothing is worth all this angst.
Well… I DO have my opinions but … yeah, it’s so best nowadays to just read your Vogue.
Great answer! …. neutrals look great!
I just love the pop of your azure (???) colored earrings!
We say Azure during NYFW …then we go back to calling them blue, Kathleen. Ha!! XO
I agree!!! Just read your Vogue and keep your opinions to yourself. I do however love your neutrals!!
I’ve been following your blog for a few months and really loving your styles, your turquoise, your photos but mostly your attitude.
Your presentation is pretty impressive Jamie. I enjoy the variety of clothing you wear. The videos are amazing! I don’t think I’ve seen an outfit i wouldn’t wear yet although my lifestyle as a retired middle school Social Studies teacher wouldn’t include some of your more dressy looks.
You are lots of fun and your experience on the plane and how you gently and creatively wove it into your style in this post compelled me to say. I love your blog!!
Well, Gosh -thanks, Marilee! Thanks for being moved to comment. I, too, follow other bloggers and every now and then they compel me comment on whatever they’re doing.
I truly appreciate your comments on my videos. I just started doing them and it’s such a creative new outlet for me so when someone else likes them that really means something to me. Thank you! – Jamie
That was pretty good! Made me smile 🙂 I love the ensemble!
Love, love, love the shoes! I had a pair almost exactly like them circa 1976…i loved them then and I still love them now!!!
Excellent neutral outfit, excellent neutral comment.
Neutral is great when it comes to clothes and sometimes politics, but a good political debate if kept civil, opens conversation and enlightens. The problem is people don’t discuss the issues and therefore don’t challenge themselves and others. Talking about politics is quite normal in most parts of the world.
Thoroughly enjoyed this, and have been in that same “seat” more times than a body should be in the last few years! I love neutrals for the same reason! You simply can’t go wrong with them! Great post!
Thanks, Amy! (*** that’s what I get for not paying the extra $15 or whatever it is to secure the A boarding section!)
