When you cross over multiple time zones, it takes days to properly recover and get caught up on your sleep. So even though we returned from our international trip late last week, it was really only yesterday that I finally felt like I could properly form a sentence, as my brain just wasn’t fully functioning.  I was suffering from a bad case of Brain Fog.

Feeling exceptionally loopy, my husband and I attended a late afternoon party last weekend and I was hopeful that I wouldn’t have to engage in any real dialogue since my brain fog was in full effect.  So I did my darndest to look presentable and crossed my fingers that my outfit would do the talkin’ for me.  Do my shoes even match each other?   S-l-e-e-p-y time…

Hoping that no one would ask me a question that would require an intelligent response from me, I figured that someone might inquire about my fab-u-loso Christian Lacroix earrings that I scored at the marché aux puces de Saint-Ouen.  This would then, at least, allow me to talk about something that is permanently embedded in my brain and easily retrievable from my memory banks.

cllace1How could you NOT inquire about these earrings?  I mean, I could go on and on about these beauties.

I was, however, basically sleep walking through the entire party and I found everything to be funny. I think I even snorted out loud once or twice and I did actually slap my knee.

But how would I have known that the discussions would be less about my earrings and all about my cut out lace skirt?  An approving nod from the hostess, as well as a high-five from the waiter.

I am now wide awake.  Let’s get this party started!

And since I wasn’t really firing on all cylinders until yesterday, I happily report that my brain fog is gone ~ just in time for this holiday weekend.

Wishing everyone a fun, safe and brain fog free 4th of July!
